Buy from the manufacturer where you can
A tank bought direct comes with three things a roadside purchase often doesn't:
- A warranty that is actually yours, documented at the point of sale
- A delivered price, rather than a price plus an argument about transport
- Someone to call if something is wrong on arrival

What to ask before you pay
Is this price delivered? Transport on a 10,000-litre tank is not a rounding error. Get the delivered figure.
What is the lead time to my area? It varies with distance. Ask before you plan the installation.
What exactly does the warranty cover, and for how long? Jumbo Tanks carry a 16-year warranty, with terms confirmed on your purchase documentation. Keep that documentation.
Is the capacity moulded into the tank? A tank that states its own size is a tank you can verify.
What is the inner layer? Food grade, for anything you will drink.
How delivery works
Tanks are quoted delivered, and what that costs and how long it takes depends on where you are. Nairobi and the immediate surrounds are quick; further out takes longer and costs more. When you send us a location, we tell you both.
Two things to sort out before the lorry arrives:
The base must be ready. Flat, level and supporting the whole floor of the tank — a concrete slab, or compacted murram with sand. Not blocks under the rim. A tank on a partial base will deform under load, and that is not a warranty claim.
Measure your gate. A 10,000-litre tank is wider than many gates and most people find this out on delivery day. Measure the gate, the path and any corner it has to turn.
What you should get in a quote
- The capacity and model
- The delivered price for your location
- The lead time
- The warranty term
If a quote is missing the delivery figure, it is not a quote yet.
Buying more than one
Two smaller tanks plumbed together often beat one large one:
- You can buy the second later and spread the cost
- Cleaning one still leaves you with water
- Two 5,000s fit through a gate that a 10,000 will not
- Two bases are easier to build well than one very large one

What to avoid
A price with no delivery. The gap is where the surprise lives.
No paperwork. No documentation, no warranty. It is that simple.
An unbranded tank at a very good price. Wall thickness is the usual place the saving comes from, and you find out in year three.
